This is so very cool! Your web site on 2D animation and the Festival coming up in Nov. I hope to be in town to attend the Festival.

Congratulations on keeping this art form alive! Having attended California Institute of the Arts, I had a few friends in the animation dept. and I fully appreciate the commitment and hard work that goes into creating 2D animation.

Best to all,

Nan

Thanks for posting Nan Avant... I've been so busy just lately that I've only now had a chance to respond!

Great to hear that you will be attending the festival. We've added Nancy Beiman to the speaker line-up since the original program was posted, so you might want to check that out... she's a very hillarious writer, and being an ex-Disney animator she knows her stuff about animation. Her new book "Preparing to Board" looks like becoming a classic work on animation storytelling, storyboarding and character design when it comes out in the new year.

In terms of the competition part of the festival, we've also opened the 'Best Animation in a Student Film' to work that is maybe a section of a complete (finished or unfinished) fulltime student film, or even a really well made pencil test from a college assignment. Basically, as with all the 'Best animation in..." competitive categories, as long as it demonstrates good animation, we're interested. To accommodate this, the entry date has been moved back till October 31st... so please spread the word if you can! :)

Best wishes,
