I noticed one of the events at the recent "2-D or Not 2-D" festival was a screening of the animated TV special "Ziggy's Gift" .

EDIT : I just checked Amazon.com . Looks like it is still available on DVD after all ---

I remember it being very well animated . But I haven't seen it since it originally aired . Wonder why it disappeared from broadcast ? Seems like it might have been one of those specials that's aired year after year ...
