FestivalsI'm really looking forward to attending the second 2D or not 2D festival this November...
I'll also be teaching a storyboard masterclass in Singapore at the end of the month, so November is a month to mark on the calendar in more ways than one.
Where has everyone gone? Is there anyone still posting here?

I'm here!
You'll be in Singapore at the end of November? Or this month?
(I'll be there til the 28th)

Hi Stickman,
I'm supposed to be there sometime between November 20 and 27. Hans Bacher will also be making a presentation and his new book DREAM WORLDS is not to be missed!
What are you doing in Singapore, and is it a good place to work?
Most importantly: do women need to wear dresses there to business meetings, or is a pant suit acceptable? I have time to find out before November but most business guides are aimed at male travellers...

I'm still here... it's been quiet. We need to nudge our benevolent leader into jumping on more...

Hey ho,
Tony's probably also coming off a difficult time at the end of the school year, but at least the site update looks wonderful, so good things should ensue!
And I apologize for thinking that you were in Asia...that was the tired talking...
Your blogs look good by the way. Why two? is blogger.com comparable or inferior to livejournal?
cheers

I use blogger for animation (and some music) stuff only... Livejournal is more for social networking and philosophizing.

Nice. One blog is enough for me, though. I usually haven't had enough time to philosophize, let alone read all that I want to. I will get some rest this summer, starting with today; the doctor has just informed me that I have a Virus and must Rest.
Sounds good to me.
best

Hi Nancy...
I'm also visiting... just there for the cgFestival, where my film "Love.Leech.Tomato." is running....
From what I've read, its a modern, muliti-cutural place. Very interesting.
Hans Bacher!? Where will he be presenting? I love the guy's work!
David
P.S. from what I've read, i think Singapore is fine with dress slacks - but bring a fake mustache just in case

I'm still here , too. Been busy lately, not much time for anything other than a quick glance now and then. Sometimes it seems like this forum falls silent for weeks at a time and then I don't check in as often (but of course , that just makes it worse) .
I still hope this forum can attract more users and more activity. I love the idea of having a place to talk exclusively about "2D" animation , which is my first love (no disrespect to the 3D clay/puppet animators or the 3D computer animators) .
Ok, I'm going to go start a new topic right now ...

Hans Bacher and Nancy Beiman at Animation Singapore festHI Stickman,
Both Hans Bacher and I will be presenting lectures and workshops at the 'animation celebration' in Singapore sometime in the week of Nov. 20-27.
Hans will have DREAMWORLDS, his must-have book on art direction, and I will be conducting a storyboard workshop and presumably flogging PREPARE TO BOARD!
Tony White's just asked me to get a presentation ready for the next 2DORNOT2D fest, and it's hard work (history work always is, since you can't just make up your own stuff)

What's the presentation?

The storyboard masterclass will take place on one day, and I will give a lecture on another day on story. I don't know what Hans' schedule is but he will also conduct a workshop --presumably in art direction.

You're doing this for 2D or not 2D?

No, that's for Singapore.
Tony wants me to do a history presetation. I hate doing history presentations. I'd rather do a masterclass.

Like a history of animation?

God forbid. It is a history of female animators. .

Maybe you can bargain... you can do the history lecture IFF you can also do a masterclass.

I don't like to disappoint, but it is very hard to get permission to run DVDS as part of a paid lecture, and I also do not feel that I have the time or the money to do an edited program.
Tony's pretty open on what I present, but I do try to give people what they ask for. But in this instance it would not be wise to put together a show with Disney, Warner, and other dvds and assume that we will be allowed to show them. It's a lot easier to work with my own stuff.
