HAIR HIGH is out on DVD

Bill Plympton's HAIR HIGH is available on DVD on amazon.com!
Thing is, it is only available in Zone 2 since it was released in France. Plympton could not find a US distributor!
I bought this film and was absolutely charmed by it. It contains Plympton's trademark comic sex and violence which of course makes it inappropriate viewing for small children of all ages, but it also has his best characters, plot, art direction, and a genuinely touching love story. I love the subtext of this movie (hint: watch the bugs and worms.)
And the film contains the best soundtrack since the TRIPLETS OF BELLEVILLE.
The film is running at a midnight screening on April 4 in New York City, and Bill wrote me that he was 'working on' getting it into the Little Theatre here in Rochester. It needs to be seen on a big screen, preferably in a drive in theatre, while you are eating a huge bowl of popcorn with your steady.
Tony, this would be a real stunner to have at the next festival, though you'd have to rate it X and possibly run it at night to keep the small kids out.
What's great is that Plympton manages to make death funny.
(I already knew that sex was...)
See this movie to watch the best American animated film of the year. If you can run a Zone 2 disc, buy a copy. The disc also contains the hilarious short THE GUARD DOG. Hats off and a chicken suit to Bill Plympton.

And don't forget to watch the frog.

Plympton is in L.A. next week for an ASIFA screening.

Bill Plympton will be in L.A. for a special ASIFA meeting and screening of THE GUIDE DOG and clips from his newest feature. HAIR HIGH will screen at the Laemmle Sunset 5 theatre from April 13-19. Don't miss it and don't forget to bring lots of popcorn!
