New user name for "Blackwing602"I originally registered under the user name "Blackwing602".
(after the dear, departed pencil of the same name. "Half the Pressure, Twice the Speed").
However, I've decided to re-register under my own name, so I'm posting now as DavidN.

Ah, David... alas... how I miss those beloved 'Blackwing' pencils too! However, the soft, flimsy, square-shaped erasers never seemed up to the task though, did they? I still do most of my work with blue 'Col-erase' pencils though... then I usually clean-up with ink pens prior to scanning.
Best wishes,

Hey, David, I was perusing your website and saw at one point you were involved with Legacy Animation... I remember Legacy, I stumbled upon it accidentally a couple years back or so and was happy some folks were keeping the spirit alive. It got started up right after the 'Eisnosaurus' did its thing, didn't it? Sorry it couldn't keep the momentum going... maybe Animaticus can pick up where it left off...

I do believe the objective of the "Animaticus Foundation" is to combine classical teaching with ground-breaking, state-of-the-art production... although most likely not in the mainstream marketplace.
The full-length films that I have most admired over the past few years are "Triplets of Belleville" and "Spirited Away". Neither of these films could have ever been financed directly via Hollywood. Both had to find alternative finance and then be made to attract distribution. (A kind of "If you build it, they will come!" principle.)
Anyway, it is my fundamental belief that whatever the Foundation does will have to be 'despite' the Hollywood system, not 'because' of it... i.e. a new and innovative approach that will enable new and innovative animation.
Time will tell if the philosophy will bear fruit... but I won't ever give up trying!
